David Patterson

David has worked for Learning Light for over 5 years and in that time has become an influential commentator and valued consultant in the world of e-learning and learning technologies.

David is joint author of several research papers including the highly acclaimed 2009 and 2010 Learning Light reports on theUKe-learning market.

His in depth experience has contributed to Learning Light being regarded as one of the UK’s leading research and consultancy organisations in the field of e-learning.

His strong business background both in the public and private sector gives him a leading edge when working with a wide range of clients to provide independent and impartial advice on the use of e-learning and learning technologies to improve business performance.

David is a highly experienced manager with a strong background in ICT, e-learning and learning technologies. David has many years of experience in organisational change using well developed negotiation and influencing skills, along with project management skills and financial management skills. This is blended with experience in the private sector, local government, business support and as a director of Learning Light.  

David successfully studied for a MSc in Information Systems at the University of Sheffield in 1999-2000, and achieved a distinction.

Here David developed his interest in e-learning, and indeed became a part-time distance learning tutor using e-learning and learning technologies for the University of Sheffield, a role he undertook till 2004. David continues to work closely with both the universities of Sheffield and Leeds.    




Gill Broadhead

Gill Broadhead has specialised in developing blended learning programmes that utilise the effectiveness and efficiencies of e-learning and learning technology for more than 20 years.

Gill has worked for Learning Light for over 3 years and is co-author of the Learning Light, UK e-learning Market Report, a report that provides a wealth of commercially valued information about the sector.

As a Consultant she works with key stakeholders to understand strategic training needs and advise on the development and delivery of blended learning programmes that optimise budget, improve employee performance and drive business goals.

Her knowledge and expertise of the e-learning and learning technologies industry is current and commercially focused. Her advice is impartial and totally independent, factors that are instrumental in her delivering valued consultancy for many clients across the UK.

Gill is a fellow of the Royal Society for the encouragement of Arts, Manufactures and Commerce (RSA) and is named in the 2010 UK e-learning industry top 10 list of ‘movers & shakers’ in recognition of her expertise and knowledge of the sector.

Gill firmly believes e-delivery of learning utilising today’s technologies is key to organisations achieving cost effective solutions that effectively address business needs.
